Participants are invited to develop a conceptual architectural design for a new educational building adjoining the historic building of 18th Comprehensive School William Gladstone in Sofia, Bulgaria. The school, with a history of nearly 120 years, is the largest in Bulgaria with over 2,200 pupils. The competition seeks a design that respects the school's heritage while creating a contemporary educational environment. The scope includes the functional reorganization and landscaping of the existing school grounds. The design must balance tradition and contemporary architecture, create adaptable learning spaces, ensure universal accessibility, provide abundant daylight and a healthy environment, and maintain safety and intuitive wayfinding. The winning design will form the basis for awarding a public contract for technical and detailed investment design. Participants ranked first, second, and third will be invited to negotiate the subsequent design contract.

Open to all Bulgarian and foreign natural and legal persons or associations thereof, as well as any other entity entitled to perform design activities under the legislation of the country in which it is established. No restrictions based on nationality or territory. Participants without design licensing may participate but must include designers with full licensing if ranked in the top three.

First Prize: €30,000; Second Prize: €20,000; Third Prize: €10,000. Prizes will be paid no later than 30 days after the Contracting Authority's ranking decision enters into effect. After the competition, the Contracting Authority has the right to negotiate with the top three ranked participants for awarding a public design contract for technical and detailed investment design, with an estimated value of up to €220,000 excluding VAT.
