Competition Brief & Overview
Participants are invited to design the landscape and memorial space of the Minab School Martyrs' Cemetery, an 8,000 m² site in southern Iran. The competition seeks to transform the burial ground of martyrs from a U.S. missile attack on February 28, 2026, into a living memorial landscape. Designs should integrate four foundational concepts: Remembrance, Consolation, Empathy, and Peace & Life. The project must respond to the needs of bereaved families, support collective ceremonies, and create a space for reflection and public engagement. Participants should focus on spatial quality, cultural sensitivity, climate responsiveness, and buildability. The competition emphasizes context-sensitive, thoughtful proposals that honor the memory of the victims while contributing to the broader discourse on memorial architecture.
