Competition Brief & Overview

IADC2027 invites students worldwide to submit outstanding architectural and urban design projects demonstrating the transformative role of aesthetics in creating better built environments. Participants may submit individually or in teams of up to four members. Both conceptual/unbuilt and completed/built student projects are eligible. Projects may be developed independently or as part of academic coursework, design studios, thesis work, workshops, or supervised educational activities. Submissions must fall under either ARCHITECTURE (buildings, interiors, adaptive reuse, façades) or URBAN DESIGN (neighborhoods, public spaces, streetscapes, urban regeneration) classifications. Projects can be located anywhere in the world with no restrictions on site, scale, building type, or dimensions. Each submission requires a 200-word project description in English, one A2 horizontal poster in PDF format (max 20MB), and a payment receipt. Anonymous evaluation is mandatory—no identifying information may appear on posters. Participants must demonstrate aesthetic excellence through dimensions such as harmony, proportion, material selection, spatial composition, light and shadow, cultural relevance, user experience, sustainability integration, and innovation. The competition aims to promote aesthetic excellence, recognize innovation, foster creativity, cultivate aesthetic awareness, elevate design standards, and enhance environmental responsibility. Academic instructors may participate as supervisors or advisors but students remain the official entrants.

Eligibility & Target Participants

Students studying or holding degrees in Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or closely related built-environment disciplines. Participants may submit individually or in teams of up to four members. At least one team member must meet the educational requirement. Open to students from all countries and regions worldwide with no age restrictions. Academic instructors may participate as supervisors or advisors.
