Competition Brief & Overview
Participants are invited to design the adaptive reuse of Dino Campana's birthplace in Marradi, Italy, transforming it into a contemporary museum and cultural hub dedicated to the poet. The project must preserve the historic character of the building while creating exhibition spaces, offices for cultural foundations, a home-museum, and multipurpose areas. Designers must address three areas: interior renovations respecting the historic masonry envelope (exhibition rooms, study center, museum spaces); landscaping and a small multipurpose pavilion in the outdoor gardens; and an elevated connection improving access from the street to the upper garden. The design should embody principles of emotional museography, creating immersive and reversible exhibition solutions that narrate Campana's life and poetics. Interventions must be flexible, accessible, and compatible with the building's cultural heritage status. The project aims to establish Marradi as an international center for contemporary poetry while contributing to territorial regeneration and countering depopulation in this Apennine mountain town. Submissions require one A1 board, one A3 album (max 7 pages), and a cover image, all in English without identifying information.
